HBsAG stands for hepatitis B surface antigen. When a healthcare provider orders blood tests to determine if someone is infected with the hepatitis B virus, one thing he is looking for is HBsAG in the blood. If it is found, along with other specific antibodies it means the person has a hepatitis B infection.
Description of Test strip:
HBsAg test strip is a rapid direct binding test for the visual detection of hepatitis B antigen (HBsAg) as an aid in the diagnosis of hepatitis B infection.It is based on the principle of sandwich immunossay for determination of HBsAg in human serum specimen.Two monoclonal antibodies are employed to identify HBsAg specifically.This one step test is very sensitive and only takes about 15-20 minutes. Test results are read visually without any instrument.
