Surviving The Storms
Surviving the Storms is a vivid portrayal of the contradictions in the life of Kuro, an adolescent from a lower middle class family in Port Harcourt, in the years following the civil war. The racy short novel evokes the exuberance of youth and the challenges of parenthood as well as the benefits of good education.
Having spent part of his boyhood in the war zone, as a student after the end of the civil war Kuro was rather irrepressible at both school and home. His passage to manhood is humourously presented, giving the reader an insight into Nigeria of the 1970’s with a backdrop of the many years before then.
